RIP: Grundy

Jan 1st was a sad day, the first day that Fremantle Media, which has owned Grundys for over ten years, absorbed the name once and for all. From now on all productions by both Grundy and Crackerjack will be wholly Fremantle productions, ending a golden era of Aussie productions.

Grundy gave us Sons & Daughters, Prisoner, Young Doctors, Restless Years, Class of 74, Perfect Match, It’s a Knockout and much more. Now it’s going to rerun heaven alongside Crawfords.

Grundy CEO Andrew Brooke will also step down as of Jan 31. When he made his announcement in September, Brooke said, “It is a very sad moment for me as I have thoroughly enjoyed my years with Grundy both in Australia and many countries overseas and will miss working with the friends I have been fortunate enough to make during that time. However, I felt the time was right for a new challenge and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. I am proud to have been at the helm of one of Australia’s best known and leading production companies.”
