[Seven/7:30pm] Dancing With The Stars. New Series. After the last series was a bit tired, Seven has managed to nab quite a good line up this year. Certainly there will be a lot of interest in Naomi Robson and Jamie Durie (who danced all through his stripping career). David Graham is also likeable, and there is Kimberly Davies, Fifi Box, Tatiana Grigorieva and Todd Woodbridge too. Plus they’ve added Disco, and some “twists.” Seven will be keen to see how this series performs to decide whether to rest or launch a follow-up.

[Seven/9:40pm] All Saints. The Hardest Word. Bart continues to fight for his life in ICU. While many of the ED staff want to visit him and wish him well there’s one notable exception. An MVA that unfolds in front of Cate forces her to perform an emergency procedure usually reserved for doctors.

[Seven/10:40pm] Cold Feet. David continues to see his lawyer and Karen is furious when he stops her credit card. Mark struggles accepting Karen’s parenting responsibilities. Adam finds it hard being a house husband and is jealous when Rachel goes on a business trip. At a meeting with the lawyers, Karen’s alcoholism is brought up. Adam and Rachel are shocked to learn that their house is up for auction and financially out of their reach. Lee spends the night with Ramona.

[ABC/9:20pm] Foreign Correspondent. Tonight on Foreign Correspondent an Iraqi doctor takes us on a very personal journey beyond Baghdad’s high security Green Zone in to the emergency rooms and operating theatres of Al Yarmouk hospital. Once a hospital where appendix removals dominated operating lists, these days surgeons at Al-Yarmouk hospital work round the clock to save the limbs and lives of bomb blast victims. Filming inside the hospital which is located in one of the most dangerous areas of Baghdad was extremely risky and many staff were afraid to show their faces on camera. Before the insurgency Al Yarmouk was a “normal, local hospital”, now it’s a “field hospital in a civil war,” said the Iraqi doctor/documentary maker. He was given unprecedented access to film in the hospital. His identity cannot be disclosed – to do so would endanger his life. “I’ve worked as a doctor for five years, all through the invasion. It’s never been so bad and it’s getting worse every day. I don’t know how much more of this I can take,” said the doctor. This program looks at the sectarian strife tearing Iraq apart from the perspective of the United States, British and Australian forces. Baghdad Doctor, by contrast provides a gritty, enthralling take on the collapse of Iraqi civil society. Most of the hospital’s patients are Shiite civilians injured by the bombs of “extreme Sunnis and Al Qaeda.” Even so at Al Yarmouk hospital Shiite and Sunni muslims work side by side. Medical staff fear being targeted because they treat patients from all sects. Gunshots have been fired in the ER room and doctors have been kidnapped and killed.

[SBS/10:00pm] The President Versus David Hicks – In January 2002 David Hicks was picked up in Afghanistan by the Northern Alliance and handed over to the US military. He was taken to the American Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for interrogation and has been held there in a small cage ever since. President Bush has labelled him an “unlawful combatant.” This means that he is allowed none of the rights of ordinary prisoners-of-war. No charges have been laid against him and only recently has he been given access to a lawyer. How did a 26 year old, former stockman from Adelaide, Australia, end up as a Taliban fighter? This program follows the journey made by Terry Hicks, David’s father, who has never before travelled outside Australia as he traces his son’s footsteps in an attempt to understand what has happened to him. 1. A fantastic opening episode for this season … the new guest judge is a scream and gave stuffy Todd a run for his money. FARMER DAVE did well under the circumstances (he can’t dance!) but I thought that TIM CAMPBELL from Home & Away was the surprise of the night … he was brilliant! Even better than Jamie Dury!

    Jack!

  2. Im so happy that Dancing With The Stars is back – I simply adore this show (might have something to do with the fact my cousins are professional ballroom dancers). The line up looks fabulous & Im so looing forward to see Naomi, I think the public is going to be surprised – here’s hoping she gets her talk show thats been going round.
