  1. I would love for one of the girls from McLeod’s Daughters (The Hat Show) to win the Gold but I think that KATE RITCHIE really deserves it this time … after all she has been in the same show almost forever and she is a great character and strong actress. It would not be appropriate for Rove to win, particularly on a sympathy vote.
    Jack!

  2. Look as much as i love rove i must say i hope he doesnt win gold because of sympathy i mean he was crap all last year (no offence rove) but he had one of the worst years he has been on tv. I must say kate is so much more thouroughly deserving of this award. She was the most outstanding last year than anyone on tv. If she doesnt win it i hope john howard does because he is such a good actor who isnt recognised as much for his acting.

  3. Yes there’s certainly a few names there that don’t exactly roll off your tongue. Natalie Blair goes from Best Newcomer to Gold in 2 years and she’s not even one of Neighbours most recognised (Jackie Woodburne ignored again, sigh).

But the Gold is now out of the hands of TV Week alone, and wide open to all and sundry to vote.

I think it will go down to Rove vs Kate, and at this stage of the game there’s surely a sympathetic swing to Rove.

  4. John Wood? like, come on! Blue Heelers only ran for about 12 weeks last year (just so they could break the record for longest running drama), and other than he only did those 50 years specials for 7 (Melbourne only) and Wine Me Dine Me. Are TV Week readers so stuck in their ways?
Having said that though, i think I am now officially *too old* for the Logies! Who are half of those Gold nominees? A bit player from Neighbours? a couple of “Daughters”? Most of the population would struggle to even know these people, let alone consider them the most popular on TV. Perhaps the awards should be labelled “Most Popular according to 12 year old girls with chronic SMS habits”!

  5. Actually I was mindful of that at the time of posting the nominees and thought BH had ended before last year’s Logies, because JW was so indignant towards Seven at the awards. But I’ve checked, it was on air til June 3, and they had merely finished shooting before last year’s ceremony. So I’m corrected!

He also did those (rivetting) Wine Me, Dine Me specials.

  6. Isnt it John Wood for Blue Heelers not Joanne Lees because it was on after nominations were closed so i think you should change it for Blue Heelers not Joanne Lees thats what viewers nominated him for because of Blue Heelers. Also it is about 2006 not 2007 shows so thats why it is blue heelers just thought i should tell you and you can check it out.
