[ABC/8:30pm] Taggart. New Series. As the team begin to investigate a suspicious death at an army training camp they find that civilian rules don’t apply. Recruits are being trained up for the demands of war zones, and to be prepared to kill or be killed. When a sniper starts killing men associated with the training camp, the team find the army closing rank. Information is given on a need to know basis only, so DI Ross (John Michie) moves into the camp to try and understand the mentality of the trainees and the regime. He’s also out to prove himself after a poor appraisal from Bourke (Alex Norton). Can he prevent more young soldiers being killed?
[ABC/9:35pm] Ghost Squad. Detective Chief Superintendent Sally Marshall (Clare Holman) is a rising star in the force and head of the Serious Crime Squad. But her success rate is suspiciously high and there is concern that she has been cutting corners to get results. With Sally in line for promotion to the role of Commander, McKay (Emma Fielding) is asked to find out if there is anything that the police should know before making such a high profile promotion. Amy (Elaine Cassidy) is sent in to find out if Sally has any dirty secrets. Amy joins Sally’s team alongside Detective Inspector Sinclair (Paul Ireland), to investigate the brutal murder of a young woman. Their prime suspect is Keith Warren (Stuart McQuarrie), arrested for a similar crime 18 months before but later released because of circumstantial evidence. This time, Marshall is determined to convict him. But is she willing to break the law in order to get her man and win herself the promotion she craves? The situation becomes more complicated when Amy spots Sally having lunch with Robert (James Weber Brown), her senior police officer boyfriend. Amy begins to realise that she has unwittingly become a pawn in other people’s political games.

Ben’s friend warns him that his new squeeze is just after his manhood, and that he should be a CTR man, Choose The Right. Nicki feels Barb has encroached on her time. Sarah’s new Mormon work friend wants her to know that even though she doesn’t approve of polygamy, she still wants to be her friend. Sarah admits she doesn’t like polygamy either. [SBS/1:05am Sat] Movie: Yossi & Jagger – Two young male officers in the Israeli army are deeply in love with each other, but both have different perceptions about their relationship. Yossi, the company commander, an introvert who intends to pursue a military career, whereas Jagger, his second-in-command, the more open of the two, is soon to complete his military service and cannot wait to come out of the closet. Both of them are responsible for a group of young soldiers who live in a narrow underground fortification on the Lebanese border. Directed by Eytan Fox, and stars Ohad Knoller and Yehuda Levi. Knoller received the Best Actor Award at the 2003 Tribeca Film Festival and the film won the Audience Award at the 2003 Torino International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. [Seven/2:30pm] Movie: Bedknobs And Broomsticks. A delightful classic Disney favourite with an ingenious blend of animation and live action fantasy, adventure and song. ANGELA LANSBURY stars as the prim, slightly eccentric Miss Eglantine Price, who joins forces with three starving cockney waifs she’s taken in on a scheme to help the English during World War II. Their magical odyssey, via a very special bedknob, offers some inventive and enchanting sequences. (US 1962) Oscar Award winning epic which follows the Rawlings and Prescott families over 50 years of westward expansion from 1830 to 1880 as they progress over the prairies from St Louis to the Californian gold rush, suffering the Civil War, helping to build the railroads and bringing law and justice to the frontier. Starring Gregory Peck, Henry Fonda, James Stewart and John Wayne.

[SBS/7:30pm] Nerds FC. Despite being bruised and sore, the boys were ready to start acting like a proper soccer team. The first step was getting the team into uniform. The next step, sending these boys, who are used to the comfort of their bedrooms with a video game remote in hand, to the great outdoors…overnight! Right from their first activity, the boys realized they had to work together. Encouraging cheers, motivational words to each other, and thinking outside the box really brought the team together. Dusty and dirty from sleeping in tents out in the wilderness, the boys ended their bonding trip by electing a captain to lead them in battle. They perform their new single Patience. And finally, Lord of the Rings star Sir Ian McKellen relives the glee he felt at joining his heroes on Coronation Street. He also talks about his role as the nasty Mr Toad in the animation Flushed Away. Michael also pays tribute to Sir Ian for his great triumphs in the sphere of gay rights.

Bill buys Margene a new car. Nicki’s father, Roman, also a polygamist, creates tension when he turns up. Roman’s youngest wife Rhonda visits as well, but as she is not yet 16, she’s in a ‘pre-marriage placement’ to get around the law. She tells Bill’s daughter Sarah that Roman is good to her, and that “the greatest freedom is obedience”. Bill’s brother, Joey, and his wife also come to the party. [ABC/5:00pm] Sunday Arts. This week on Sunday Arts Virginia Trioli meets a rising star of stage and screen Dan Spielman. Next in our Rogues Gallery series with a look at theatre’s enfant terrible, Barrie Kosky, and we feature a special film on the work of visual artist Ken Unsworth.
[ABC/7:30pm] Robin Hood. The gang is horrified when Robin (Jonas Armstrong) saves an arsonist from burning Locksley Church and brings him back to the forest. The arsonist, Harold (Rhys Meredith) was a Crusader and his behaviour is a symptom of Crusader’s Sickness. Then Robin’s men stumble upon a mysterious Saracen carriage and uncover a sinister rusty mask. The carriage belongs to Saladin’s cousin, Prince Malik (Raj James), who has arrived in Nottingham to broker a peace deal with Prince John. Pampered, entertained and confined for his “own protection”, Malik has been a guest at the Castle for two weeks and is anxious either to start peace talks or find his lost carriage and get to London. He has no idea that, in reality, the Sheriff (Keith Allen) is demanding a ransom for him from Saladin. Robin pounces on Malik when he and Gisborne (Richard Armitage) enter the forest to retrieve the carriage but finally frees the Prince when he has satisfied his men that there is no witchcraft at work in the forest. Then they encounter a mysterious group of women, guarding what appears to be a ransom chest. But on closer inspection, a terrified Djaq (Anjali Jay) identifies the group as a crack team of assassins.
[ABC/7:30pm] Life on Mars. The murder of a football fan near his local pub sends the team undercover on the eve of a big match. Sam (John Simm) and Gene (Philip Glenister) have very different theories about the murder but they both recognise the importance of finding the murderer before the game on Saturday if they are to avoid a full-scale riot between rival fans. When the team goes undercover in the pub, Sam finds himself bonding with Ryan (Michael Lawrence) the young son of the murdered man. Memories of going to the football with his own dad come flooding back and Sam realises that the match on Saturday is the last ever football match that he and his dad went to together when Sam was just four years old. As Gene looks like he’s set to drink the pub dry, Sam worries about their chances of finding the killer before Saturday’s game. With the press using the murder to fuel the flames of hate between rival fans Sam believes that the only way to prevent a full scale riot is to prove that the murder wasn’t football related. But suddenly the riot is upon them and Sam finds himself face to face with the killer.

  1. Yes so did we, and I will never forget that night. As soon as we heard she is confirmed for Las Vegas we were over the moon! Shame of the legal battle for the DVD release, poor Bette gets herself in some pickles.

  2. There’s not much difference. Probably just an extra curse word, or bit of flesh, or adult theme. Essentially what has been broadcast is about 95% intact. After this week there are no more “uncut” versions.

  3. Is there actually a difference between the Sunday airing of Big Love and the Friday “Complete and Uncut” version?
    Or is it a fancy title to make suckers like me watch the repeat?
