Bad eggs between Martin and Molloy

Tony Martin has told News Ltd newspapers he has not spoken to Mick Molloy in months, over a falling out between the duo.

Martin says a mockumentary he was asked to shoot for Molloy’s film Boytown was completed but not included in the film’s DVD release. He has described the piece as “probably one of the two or three best things I’ve ever done in any medium.”

John Molloy, brother of Mick and producing partner, claims the production ran out of money. Martin says he even offered to foot the bill.

“I get people emailing and phoning up the radio show and offering their condolences because they think it must have turned out shithouse when in fact, in my opinion, the exact opposite is true,” says Martin. There is speculation the mockumentary was actually funnier than the feature film itself.

Martin’s public statement on the rift will come as no help to The Nation which tonight moves to a later 10:30pm timeslot. But the two have enough media experience to know how such public comments will ricochet. Could this be Martin’s “thankyou” gift to Molloy?

  1. I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to find the mockumentary was actually funnier than the feature film, his the one with the talent on this pair.

I hope he owns or buys the rights to the mockumentary so he can maybe release it independent of the film.
