Bumped: Torchwood

Surprise, surprise. TEN is bumping Torchwood.

The show will not screen at its usual 9:30pm timeslot next Monday Aug 6th.

Instead it is being shifted to several hours later, 12am Wed morning.

It will be replaced by a special, Tomb of Jesus. a documentary about the 2,000-year-old “Tomb of the Ten Ossuaries”, found in Jerusalem.

Torchwood will then continue in its “new timeslot” of 12am Wednesdays.

When TEN launched the series with a blaze of glory it said it was committing to two seasons of the show. But ratings have slipped since a strong debut, last week down to 673,000.

Update: Tomb of Jesus will now screen at 9:30pm following a new SVU.

  1. Yeah i totally h8 channel 10. i know they r gonna put it on coz i read that they signed the rights 2 it. but who know this time it’ll probably be 1 in the morning

  3. To anon of 19/9/07 – yep I agree they can “shove their poll” where the sun doesn’t shine!

    And true, all you feel like doing after a hard day is lose yourself in some great action/story lines (or bawl your eyes out like I did in the Captn Jack Harkness ep).

    Torchwood finalled last week 11/9 – the last ep where Jack “disappears” lines up with Doctor Who ep of 8/9 (yep TEN strikes again and doesn’t coordinate that well with Who of course).

    So unfortunately we are all going to be going through TW withdrawals.

  5. i agree, these programmers have no clue, whats this polling? no one asked me, they must ask at the sports bar at the pub. there any good program is taken off or pushed till late night, many ppl despise the same prime time show i do like reality tv,singers/bb/models , like its not me so why would i care, dont waste my time watching sports that most of us couldnt even bother to play(not even 10 percent of aussie “NORMS” are finatics, but those few getwho get what they want when they want. after a hard day i want to be able to loose my self in some good tv to forget what a crappy job i have,not wait till midnight.i may have to start downloading my fav shows from overseas & not watch the tv stations & show where they can shove thair poll!

  6. I was mortifyed on sunday when looking through the paper at torchwood was not on at all this week. I checked the ten website and it stated not currently showing. what the….? some please tell me that’s because their putting on at a better time next week!How in the world can you get bad ratings at midnight? I’m sure people would rather watch torchwood than a paid presentation!
    anyone with a clue whats going on?

  7. In reply to CM – You poor bugger….I would’ve gone crazy realising the eps had played out later on and I’d missed them….

    What a pain!

    I won’t make it worse by telling you how good they were. Oops! Sorry about that. “Seriously” though, they were excellent, so hopefully you’ll download or watch the dvds. The crossover ep with Who was great.

    here i couldnt understand why torch wood was taken away half way through such an engrossing season of viewing
    we even had torchwood nights where we’d get together and bliss out saturday with the doctor and monday torchwood
    now after three weeks of withdrawal my mate from work told us its playing midnight, what lunacy is ten managed with. if you cant hold a show give away to those who can, at least the abc gives the theme its place for the fans.
    ten youre a total farce, give it up for the fans sake
    ps just another in a long list of great sci-fi delegated to the midnight crowd, lucky some of us go for the dvd season boxes and turn off the broadcasters, no comercials no disappointments

  9. Torchwood Bumped! What are you thinking? There is so little Sci Fi on TV, let alone one with actors that can actually act that combines elements of Comedy, Fiction, Romance, Sex, Thriller and Action. It really is a crime to re-timeslot this program. I suppose it is to be expected, after all heaven help us if some other far superior program got bumped from prime time like dare I say it, The Wedge, or worse still, Neighbours. You finally had a reasonably good Sci Fi program and you dumped it. Very Disappointing.

    I gather all of you saw the two part Who ep recently, with David Tennant as John Smith – absolutely excellent Who.

  11. Bloody Ten they run festering crap like Big Brother and bump a decent programme such as Torchwood .. Ten should send the remaining shows to the ABC where people with brains can enjoy it..
