City Homicide wins second series

Seven is to commission a second series of City Homicide.

It has approved a new season after only four episodes have aired. The vote of confidence follows figures which indicate it is currently Australia’s most-watched drama, a title Sea Patrol enjoyed at the same point in its airing.

Seven’s enthusiasm for the cop show is a big turn around from the lengthy indecision on the show prior to production. After the pilot was shot the series very nearly didn’t go any further, but cast changes were made and it has found its feet.

Its a vote of confidence for Aussie drama that Seven wasn’t able to extend to a second season of Last Man Standing or HeadLand. Nine’s Sea Patrol is also in production on Series 2.

Seven’s Aussie product continues to dominate the network’s successes.

It also has a major interest in the Spielberg production, The Pacific.

Check out Noni in Little Fish on ABC this Sunday. She is fantastic.

  2. Daryl says:

Nadine and her permanent quizzical frown (who the hell writes her awful cliched one liners?)
Aaron and his distracting speech impediment (slow down honey and enunciate)
And Noni; I’m sorry, but I just keep expecting Big Ted and Jemima to pop up and break out into a round of ‘the wheels on the bus.’

Best hour of comedy on TV.

“yaaawn” Now that’s funny, I suppose you sit up and watch that marvel of Youth TV “Home and Away” or “Neighbours” that has been boring the crap out of people for years!! Good on City Homicide, about time Australia actually produced decent drama! A pat on the back to the actors and writers, for years I’ve had to endure locally produced drama that was sub standard now there is something worth watching on 7. Take a note out of Law and Order’s pages (no show last’s that long with out excellent writing and actors, and maybe a few producers).

Oh by the way I’m Australian and 28 years of age, is that too old to have a say!! Snotty Nosed kid!!!

Let’s only hope that Channel 7 has the brains to run with it. As in the past they haven’t for example….Shane Maloney’s Novels that were turned into a TV series (that only lasted 2 episodes, Stiff and The Brush Off) staring David Wenham. What an excellent show spoiled by Channel 7 stupidity and lack of foresight.

CIty Homicide is one of the best shows on TV – and it def appeals to a young and old audience. I am a young guy who loves the twists and turns and unexpected storylines in the crime drama

What were the cast changes made?

The current cast I find is really well done (both in casting and acting) with the notable exception of Aaron Pedersen (who is gratingly awful).

On the positive side, Shane Bourne has been a revelation to me – he’s fantastic (I never saw him in MDA).

The show is filmed quite well and it is good to see more good old aussie actors dragged out of the cupboard but I am getting a bit sick of the way they portay different departments of the police violently hating each other
