Huge night for Seven footy

Without any NRL competition, AFL boomed on TV last night with 1.74m viewers.

It peaked at 2.34m. In Melbourne alone it peaked at 1.17m.

The heart-stopping match between Geelong and Collingwood, which the cats won by a single kick, propels Geelong into the AFL Grand Final next week. The match makes it one of the top ten viewed AFL games since the current ratings system began in 2001, discounting grand finals.

With little competition, Seven won a whopping 42.8% share of the audience compared to Nine’s 21.2%. TEN was pushed to 14.5%, fourth behind the ABC’s 15.8%.
