Kath and Kim readies amid strike action

The US version of Kath & Kim is “ready to shoot” according to a story that indicates pilots are being ramped up as a way to offset effects of the Writers’ Strike.

The show now has a director in Paul Feig.

Kath and Kim is one of the formats NBC exec Ben Silverman is pushing forward with the strike looking like a long haul. NBC also has cop drama Blue Blood, a serial killer drama from producer Peter Berg, a con-man comedy called Zip, and a new version of The A Team. Silverman boasts that he has half a dozen pilots ready to shoot.

ABC has a new comedy from Friends’ Marta Kauffman, Leap. It also has Candy about a mom who is also a detective, and Crime Prevention Unit. There are two God-related shows Letters to God and Miracle Man. ABC also has the US version of Life on Mars.

CBS has a new Bruckheimer drama about a professor who battles threats that arise from science and nature, Eleventh Hour. The Cure is about a child healer who gets into peoples’ minds. It also has a drama about a woman who writes about her immigrant family, as well as a sudsy drama about three Asian-American women. CBS will also adapt the UK’s Worst Week of my Life.

FOX has a comedy about a community of gated aliens and dramas including Anatomy of Fear, DC Metro and The FBI. It also has the haunted house show The Oaks.

  1. How will bringing forward these pilots help? Won’t they need writers if they are given the green light? I’d doubt that many shows still in the pilot stage would have scripts stockpiled.
