Outrageous programming misfortune

In one of the more unusual oddities that can only be put down to Australian summer programming, the offbeat NZ drama Outrageous Fortune is about to screen on two networks at the same time.

TEN recently started screening the second series late night. Nine had previously screened the first series, which it is about to resume, late on Thursday nights. Thankfully they won’t air head to head.

The series, which will shoot its fourth series next year, attracted quite a bit of attention when Nine first screened it because of a loophole in the Free Trade Agreement which would allow networks to qualify for local drama points.

Under pressure from the Screen Producers’ Association of Australia, Nine eventually confirmed it would not submit it. So is TEN now up to the same ‘stunt?’

  1. Channel Ten are confusing me! They have changed the timeslot for OF & they don’t advertise the show. I bet there are a lot of fans missing out. It is now on Sunday nights 10.30pm.

  2. OK, I’m confused…. are you saying Nine hasn’t shown all of season 1? And Ten is showing season 2?

Hilarious programme, I loved the eps aired on Nine to date.

  3. Wow, Arena(starting in 2 weeks- season 1),Channel 10(season 2) and I guess with 9, the remaining epsiodes of season 1 which they didn’t air.
It must be THAT good of show!!

  4. I thought I must have missed the rest of season one when it started airing on TEN. How many episodes remain for 9 to show? It’s a good show, so If using it for drama points keeps it on air, I say use it for drama points.

Intersting now we have four Bogan shows from four nations. Kath & Kim ( Aus) My Name is Earl (US), Shameless (UK) and Outrageous Fortune (NZ). They’re all great shows.
