Shooting continues in Melbourne on the HBO series The Pacific.

On Monday the Spielberg / Hanks produced series was filming at South Melbourne’s Railway Hotel and Melbourne High School.

More than 50 students doubled as a parade of young marines. They were about about $350 for 10 – 12 hours on set.

Other students from Scotch College’s military band were shooting scenes at the MCG.

The ten part miniseries, including Aussie actors Gary Sweet, Isobel Lucas, Tom Budge, Damon Herriman and Sam Parsonson will screen on the Seven Network in 2009.

3AW reported this morning that the series is being filmed at Port Melbourne’s Station Pier for three days starting today (Wednesday). The report said that since there would be no public access to the pier, people travelling on Spirit of Tasmania had to be escorted to and from the ship by security!
