TEN News adds Environment Reporter

Network TEN has appointed Adelaide bureau reporter Emily Rice to its newly-established national environment reporting unit.

Elevating the environment to a regular chapter in its News demonstrates TEN’s view of its national importance.

News Director Jim Carroll told The Australian the network would treat the environment on a par with state politics and police.

“This is a network role, like our Los Angeles or UK correspondent,” he said. “From our viewers’ viewpoint, it’s a critical issue. “(Rice) will be breaking stories in that area. She’ll have the time and the scope to do investigations if appropriate.”

Emily Rice said, “While climate change and water are at the top of everyone’s agenda, this role gives us the opportunity to explore a lot of the issues that have been ignored by mainstream media, (such as) biodiversity and species loss.”

She has recently been in Bali covering the UN conference on climate change.

  1. Your an idiot…. Global Warming doesn’t mean it’s getting hotter. What it means is an increase of the earth’s temperature by a few degrees resulting in an increase in the volume of water which contributes to sea-level rise.

The rise in the sea levels impacts the air jet streams and the movement of hot and cold air and inturn the weather.

Your total lack of understanding of the issue is not helping your cause.

  2. The evidence is all heresay!! Look how cold it is right now and its summer, yup global warming!! It is a myth just like Christmas and guess what fuels these myths…The DOLLAR!! I will continue my 10 min showers and water my garden everyday! I dont care! Its a myth!

  4. Global Warming is a load of cr*p. Look at whats happening in USA right now, if the planet were warming up they wouldn’t be having ICE storms. I am not supporting it one bit.
