SBS’ localised version of Who Do You Think You Are gets the thumbs up from Sydney Morning Herald‘s Michael Idato as one of the hot new shows of 2008.

The series sees personalities including Kate Ceberano, Jack Thompson, Ita Buttrose, Geoffrey Robertson and Cathy Freeman tracing their genealogy. It starts 7:30pm Sunday night Jan 13.

Idato also gives the nod to Underbelly, East of Everything, Kenny’s World Toilet Tour and Wide World of Sports Weekend Edition.

The SMH offers a vibrantly-written report card on many of the new shows that are promised in 2008. What’s hot, what’s possibly not, and what are the risks?

This year is not just about 7 and how they beat 9 for once last year. Its about 7 and them being cocky and think they are better than the other networks, which clearly to me isn’t the case..
    For example:
    1. Actually giving us HD before 10 but clearly 10 was going to do it first, before 7 came along and set the date before 10′s schedule release.

    2. Fast tracking tv shows and getting backfired in the process, now all those people waiting to see the final season of Heroes and other shows 7 has scheduled is pissed off to see that happening, and damn straight it makes me happy 7 stuffed up.

    3. Finally what anonymous said in last comment 7′s 2008 launch on NYE was really pathetic and tasteless I could laugh for hours and hours on that.

That’s all I have to say and one more thing “SEVEN STOP BEING SCUMBAGS & THINK YOUR HIGH AND MIGHTY, CLEARLY YOUR NOT AND IT’S SO TRUE HOW THE CHASER BOYS LOVE MOCKING HOW PATHETIC YOU GUYS REALLY ARE, SUCK IN IT, CAUSE YOU GOTTA LOVE IT”

How vomit inducing was Seven’s 2008 launch on NYE with it arrogantly boasting how it was #1.

Here’s a lesson for you Simon and friends: learn what the word “humility” means.

Television is like politics. A healthy opposition is good for everyone, especially the viewer. Kevin 07 was also Seven 07. And when they behave badly people swing to the other side for a while.

I was reading that in the paper and of the 25 shows that he picked as the best for 2008 – 13 were on nine.

It’ll be great to see how the ratings war will start with all nine’s new shows against seven’s unbeatable lineup – it’s going to be one of the fiercest ratings wars ever.

    Hopefully Underbelly will do well.
