We ♥ (heart) new looks

Get ready for a “new look Nine” from tomorrow.

Channel Nine will launch its new station IDs from 6pm Monday, led by its adopted slogan ‘We Heart TV.’ It will draw upon the symbolic image of parting clouds and blue skies.

Noting that Nine has been at the “heart” of Australian TV since 1956, the network says, “Heart is a word that embraces all sorts of meanings, and now, in its 52nd year of broadcasting, Nine’s commitment to delivering the very best to its audience is stronger than ever in 2008.”

The new-look on-air campaign will launch with a 60-second promo featuring personalities across Nine’s programming platform, including the teams from National Nine News and 60 Minutes, TODAY, Tracy Grimshaw, Eddie McGuire, The Footy Show, Wide World of Sports, Getaway, Bert Newton, Temptation, and Mornings With Kerri-Anne.

The famed Nine dots will also return permanently to the network’s logo from 6am Monday morning.

The 6pm launch is expected to lead into a new studio look for National Nine News.

MediaSpy has some leaked details on the Nine look and NBN has also hit refresh.

Meanwhile the Sydney Morning Herald says “the gloves are off” in network promotion and commercial television networks are poised to spend millions to buy viewer attention. “Nine has bought billboards, Seven has promos running in cinemas, and both networks are about to launch extensive print and radio campaigns across the nation,” it says.

There are also plenty of old ID clips on YouTube. Remember this?

And finally, here’s a blog that has been using We Heart TV since at least May last year.

Press Release:

Channel Nine viewers will be treated to a brand new on-air look featuring a fresh campaign theme – we ♥ (heart) tv – from 6.00pm tomorrow night.

The heart symbol has been chosen for the slogan because since TCN-9 became the first television station to broadcast in Australia in 1956, Channel Nine has been at the heart of television.

Heart is a word that embraces all sorts of meanings, and now, in its 52nd year of broadcasting, Nine’s commitment to delivering the very best to its audience is stronger than ever in 2008.

The Nine Network – home to some of Australian television’s most memorable moments – has been at the heart of Australian entertainment for five decades. Nine has been at the heart of every big news and current affairs story, as well as at the heart of sport, special events and entertainment programming.

The we♥tv theme will be carried through the network’s entire on-air presentation, providing the audience with a bright and contemporary way to embrace their favourite shows, and coincides with the return of Nine’s famous dotty logo across the platform from 6.00am Monday morning.

  1. Kitten using a toy or your own body parts doesnt count as SEX!!

And none of the things you mentioned in your post have even been said……. love blah blah blah.

Go back and jump into bed with 7s TV Box thing….whatever it is!!

  2. Can they PLEASE get rid of the word “summer” from the station ID??? It is ridiculous to say I ♥ followed by the aforementioned “s” word because it is the most HATED time of the year.

  3. Shame on the person who doesn’t support Australian programming. Aussies make the best drama and I’m sick of the American crap on TV. I’m glad channel 9 went so far down hill in 2007 because in 2008 that means they are going to have to do their absolute best to get viewers back. And David Gyngell is going to do just that! You can’t say that they are still stuffing around with just CSI repeats, because it’s still non-ratings and 2007 has past. People should wait and see what 2008 brings before dismissing them.

  4. Wow. Nine might claim to “heart” TV, but this Kitten doesn’t “heart” the new shitemark staining the HD channel.

Tell me, Nine slaves keenly following this comment thread, why the HELL is it sitting half way across the screen? Hmm?

Oh, and “anonymous” (how convenient), no, I haven’t ever designed a network promotion. I doubt they’d have me do one, because I have a brain and don’t bollocks on about “feel” and “clouds = love” and stuff. Consequently, I actually have a sex life 🙂
