KAK idea to bid Melbourne good morning

Kerri-Anne Kennerley wants to reinvigorate her morning ratings by shooting more of her Mornings show from Melbourne.

But Channel 9 executives, with their eye on the purse strings, have yet to greenlight her ambitions.

Mornings with Kerri-Anne has languished behind Seven’s The Morning Show since its 2007 launch, and there is also competition from TEN’s 9am with David and Kim.

The Herald Sun reported Kennerley organised a meeting last year between Nine bosses and outside broadcaster Global Television, hoping to broker a deal for both Today and Mornings With Kerri-Anne.

Karl Stefanovic had previously signalled an interest to relocate Today permanently in Melbourne, its strongest support base.

‘‘From a marketing point of view, it makes sense,” Kennerley says.

‘‘You cannot expect friendships to develop with people if you don’t see them. If you want to be friends with someone you have to take the time to talk to them.”

Kennerley believes Today and Mornings with Kerri-Anne should make monthly trips to Melbourne and film the shows back to back from Federation Square.

‘‘People still think we (Nine) have money to burn, but we are a poor relation these days,” she says.

‘‘It all comes down to budget.”

Why only Melbourne? What about the other cities?

Doesn’t Kerri-Anne want to “develop friendships” with the rest of us?

    Evan :p
