Top Gear gals keen to host

SBS will begin culling its list of Top Gear applicants to a short-list this week.

Former TV presenters Laura Csortan and Michelle Walsh are among those believed to have put their hand up for the gig.

Csortan, a petrolhead with a penchant for motorbikes, was axed by Channel Seven’s Great Outdoors last year.

Walsh, who was a daredevil reporter on Andrew Ettingshausen’s adventure series, Escape with ET for four years, is “keen” on the driving role.

“We’ve got a 62 Sunbeam, she’s been in the celebrity race at the Grand Prix twice and has done all the driver training. She’d be great in it,” her hubby and model manager Martin Walsh said.

An SBS spokeswoman declined to comment on the “confidential” recruitment process.

“Besides the guy who stripped, people have been sending in all types of bribes. What I can say is the chocolate has been wasted on the casting director, who’s a diabetic,” she said.
