April 3: Kate leaves the Bay

Break out the Kleenex -the last ever scene for Sally Fletcher nears.

Kate Ritchie will depart Home and Away at 7pm Thursday April 3rd.

It brings to an end a character we have watched grow up before our eyes -she was only 9 when she started. Even Kate herself joked that everyone in Australia watched her through her ‘training bra years!’

Having been with the show since its inception in 1988, including picking up Gold and Silver Logies, Ritchie’s departure now leaves Ray Meagher (Alf Stewart) as the longest-running continuous actor in an Aussie drama series (‘flamin’ hell).

“Sally’s” exit follows that of Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) on Neighbours the week before. Kate Ritchie leaves the show as a class act, and can now be heard on NOVA radio in Sydney.

  1. Hasn’t she left yet??

Going by all the nation wide exclusive publicity in TV week, Womans day, all major newspapers, the slow motion clips on TT, Sunrise and many tributes, I thought she would have nicked off to the UK and done a few pantos by now:P
