Nine to check in soon with Hotel Babylon

As our networks add more and more British content to our schedules, Nine has indicated Hotel Babylon will be returning in the near future -as yet no firm date.

Nine has the rights to both the second and third seasons of the British drama (it actually promised the second season in 2007). It is one of several UK acquisitions Nine has including Rock Rivals, Seceret Diary of a Call Girl and David Attenborough’s Life in Cold Blood series.

Beefing up its schedule with UK shows is in part a response to Nine’s disappointing US output deals, complicated by the Writers’ Strike, and the continued success of British dramas on both the ABC and Seven.

Australian actress Natalie Mendoza continues an ongoing role in the drama. The second season of Babylon includes guests David Walliams, Julian Clary, Jerry Hall and yes, Vanessa Feltz.

The show was originally going to air over summer, but that was then shelved.

TV Tonight will bring you the airdate once it’s been locked in.

  1. Look out for the US remake of Hotel Babylon… yet another UN-original idea and unnecessary remake(Being slightly sarcastic here, but wouldn’t surprise me if there were plans in the pipeline for it considering the US studios like UK shows).

  2. here here spaceghost. i ended up also purchasing the season 2 dvd’s and let me say the second series is as good if not better than the first. excellent, well made and funny show. it should rate for nine if backed and given a decent time but the way Nine have mucked viewers around with this series, we will be lucky to see it befor 10.30PM.

  3. I will believe it when I see it, I was sick of waiting for nine to air it so I managed to hire the season 2 dvd’s which have been out since late last year or early this year.
