Sam Raimi creates horror reality series

This could be fun. Sam Raimi has been collared by the CW Network in the US for a ‘horror reality’ show.

To be called 13, it utilizes horror-themed challenges to knock players off one by one, until just one is left, having survived all the bloodshed.

“We want to cast it like a horror movie,” producer Jay Bienstock said.

“And shoot it a little differently as well. Think about those old movies — we want to put people in a place like that, where they have to deal with their fears and anxieties. They’ll end up surprising one another.”

“It sounded like a lot of fun,” he said. “The idea of doing a horror/scary/reality show with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert — there’s nothing better.”

  1. Oh and 30 Days of Night was a horror movie hehe, a damn fine one!!
And he is one kick as producer/exec as well, always throwing and raising money to the horror cause. A re-make of Evil Dead is in the works, they are three quarters of the way thru shooting “Drag Me To Hell” with Justin Long and Sarah Barnsworth, he was a huge contributor on The Grudge movies, (about to become a trilogy) was practically the director on both the Boogyman remakes, The Messengers and Rise in the last three years, he funded scripted and oversaw The recent Evil Dead computer game and has contributed to many a thriller/horror Tv Show over the 15 years, his testimony in the trial over the whole “Video Nasties” debacle in the mid eighties in defense of horror movies has made him a horror legend and if you read the book “The Evil Dead Diaries” a book written thru the filming of the original Evil Dead filming you will know that he knows more about the genre than just about anybody!!
If the guy is wearing his “filming jacket” you know your in for something great.
Give me Raimi over Craven and King (who was a contributer to the original Evil Dead calling it “a true horror movie”) anyday!!

  2. Interesting choice, considering that aside from the Evil Dead movies – the last of which was made 16 years ago – Sam Raimi is not a horror movie director at all.

  3. Love this guy!!!
The Evil Dead trilogy is one of my all time favs and he started a horror revolution back in the early eighties! The last pic he did 30 days of Night was awesome.
