  1. good to see Satisfaction get some nominations, i really enjoyed the show, thought it was very well done.

it is interesting to see Zoe nominated for Kick, it was a strange show, some of it really worked whereas some of it was dreadful, disappointed they are not making another season, at least i don’t think they are.

Do you know David? And also is Satisfaction getting a another?

  2. Good point David, I completely forgot about the cut-off date for nomination. Kind of makes it seem like another reason Nine should have held off Underbelly till later in the year, come to think of it.

Dree, Bindi has been on TV regularly for years on her dad’s various shows. She’s not technically “new talent”. And don’t get all preachy with me about “having a go at a little girl”. Annoying is annoying, regardless of age or cause. Guess uber-cuteness doesn’t sit well with me when it comes to judging the quality of television 🙂

And yes, it IS good Renee didn’t get a nomination, but the fact that she was on the shortlist in the first place was laughable (as well as the fact, pointed out here before, that she’s not “new” either).

Thing is, her category was a popularity one. And very few people saw her since National Bingo Night tanked so spectacularly.

  3. Underbelly aired in 08, Bindi didnt kick in till her father passed which was in Sep 06, thats 15 months in the spotlight, not to long and definatly worthy of the “new talent” position.
lol and having a go at a little girl for being a spokesperson for the environment? Come on!! And isnt it a good thing that Renee didn’t get a nomination based on sexuality? It does prove that its not all about sex appeal.

  4. Aww, poor Renee Bargh, no nomination for Best Pair Of New Talents 😀

Great to see Zoe Ventoura actually get a “popular” nomination. Hopefully the anti-Bindi sentiment is at the stage by now where the little automaton cannot win (and since when was Bindi a NEW talent, anyway??)

Kate Ritchie is no doubt already polishing a spot on her mantlepiece for her gold Logie.

Strange not to see Underbelly in the drama category. Legal reasons, maybe? They can’t exactly show clips from it on the night…

And a terrific selection of actors for the female silver award. Victoria Thaine gets a nomination after all (and one which actually means something too). Kitten now happy 🙂

  5. Hah! Trying to turn John Howard into another John Woods! He would have to be one of the worst actors on Aussie TV! And Natalia Blair and no Home And Away stars? So obvious its fixed, the ABC are trying to push themselves into a bigger arena and the majority Gold Nomination just proves this, they should call this the “Attempt to Give a Person a Push Award”. You will always have the “usual” noms in there to make the other ones who are lacking look more well deserved, the public continually crack it over networks and their re-scheduling and lack of respect of viewers, this whole mock awards ceremony is no different, its not about the viewer, its about the network and this award is about trying to create the next top shelf star. They wanna good Aussie TV reality show? They should show how they put these mocko’s together!

  6. I really hope Kate Ritchie wins! Chris Lilley certainly deserves an acting award, but in terms of overall popularity (which is what the Gold Logie is all about), Kate should win hands down.

  7. Um…if we don’t give the “Most Popular” awards to someone who is “popular”, then who should they be given to??? The “outstanding” awards are, by definition, given to the most “outstanding” actors, while the “popular” awards are, by definition, given to the most “popular” actors. We’re talking about two entirely different concepts here. Our Logies are basically a combination of America’s People’s Choice Awards and the Emmys. The difference is that 80% of the Australian population has never watched any of the shows/actors nominated in the “outstanding” categories here (SHH and Chris Lilley aside), whereas there’s usually a big overlap in the US between what’s popular and what’s considered outstanding. Jackie Woodbourne is never, ever going to be popular with the younger voters, but if you want to complain about her brilliance being overlooked, complain to her peers – it’s her fellow actors who have ignored her and chosen not to vote for her in the “outstanding” category.

  8. well i have no problem with the nominees. exept for the neighbours popular actress. i love neighbours but how can you be the most popular actress if only 8000000 people watch you compared to home and away 1.2 million

  9. These “popular” awards are ridiculous. They hand them out to someone who’s popular, rather than someone who can actually ACT.

It’s irritating because I feel Jackie Woodburne has given some outstanding performances on Neighbours last year, and yet she was completely snubbed, not getting a nomination at all!

  10. There must be something wrong with commercial television in this country, if the ABC got the majority of nominations for the Gold Logie. It also looks like the “Logies Razor Gang” has gotten to the industry-voted awards as well.
