Alice is a high achiever with a private boarding school education – a scholarship student who fought hard to keep her place and get into Uni to study vet science. Alice is confrontational and feisty; she will not shy away from a disagreement. She is ultra competitive and looking for Mr. Right.

Ben, 19, Law Student, WA
Ben, a law student, is a quintessential head boy with a wicked sense of humour. Ben’s considerable wit is dry and delivered with expert timing. Despite often being the voice of reason and an organizer, Ben is easily frustrated. He admits to bouts of road rage and is constantly annoyed by slow walkers! Ben is single – he has only had one girlfriend.

Bianca, 18, Student, QLD
Bianca’s family describes her as the three B’s: “Bitch, Boobs and Brains!”. Of Italian parentage, Bianca is bring and passionate about the works of Plato and Shakespeare. She says her voluptuous body is both an asset and a liability. She rarely goes on dates and claims she has a sign in her head, which says, “RUN.”

Brigitte, 20, Waitress, ACT
Brigitte is a self-confessed drama queen and party girl. She loves photography, shopping, dressing up and having fun. Brigitte would “NOT be caught dead on national TV with no make up on.”

David, 32, Fire Fighter, NSW
David was raised as a member of the Exclusive Brethren, a religious sect that he says ‘denied him the real world’ until he escaped as at the age of 19. He had never eaten in a restaurant and never kissed a girl. Since his “escape”, David has been a policeman and a fireman. David is a natural born leader and gym junkie. He is opinionated and is obsessed with celebrity gossip and scandals!

Dixie, 21, Mental Health Worker / Student NSW
Dixie is an outgoing country girl, a mental health worker who also studies sports psychology at Uni. Her work and tutoring have turned her into an expert counselor. Dixie spent her early childhood growing up on the outskirts of an Aboriginal mission. Dixie’s prized possession is her car, which she has affectionately named ‘Beyonce.’ Although Dixie admits to being “boy crazy” she has never had a proper boyfriend because of her commitment issues.

Nobbi, 21, Commerce Student, Vic.
Nobuyuki, or Nobbi, for short, describes himself as insane and an attention seeker. A high achiever in all fields especially sport and music, Japan-born Nobbi says he is always skating on thin ice but never crosses the line. Only been in love once and then heartbroken, Nobbi is now happily single.

Rebecca, 22, Waitress WA
Rebecca is a promo model / waitress who is very comfortable in her own skin. She says she’s a daddy’s girl, proud of her job and will take on all comers if challenged. Rebecca has a bizarre foot phobia, which leaves her unable to ever be barefoot. She dreams of being a successful model in the short term but has a long term goal to be a nutritionist or dietician, saying overweight people frustrate her!

Renee, 22, Abattoir Worker, NSW
Renee is a rugby-playing tomboy who earns a living as a deboner at her local abattoir. Her mother took her to the doctor when she was five –he tested her to see if she was deaf –but found out she’s just loud. A fair dinkum country girl, Renee is very animated and in your face.

Rima, 25, Performer, Vic
Rima is a professional belly dancer who was born in Melbourne of Lebanese parents. She’s feisty, outspoken and opinionated with a dry sense of humour. Married for just a year, Rima’s husband is excited about her decision to go into the Big Brother house. She’s a small package with a big personality.

Rory, 21, Bricklayer, VIC
Rory’s good looks, chiseled body and funky wardrobe make him very popular with the ladies. He is loud and confident and could struggle with being told what to do. Rory is anti-religion but at the same time has very traditional views. He grew up in a very poor suburb which he refers to as “the ghetto.” His favourite “book” is FHM and his biggest pet hate is being forced to pay 20cents for a sachet of tomato sauce. Rory is recently single.

Saxon, 22, Truck Driver / Doorman, SA.
Heavily tattooed and physically imposing, Saxon has led a self-confessed sheltered life. He says he struggles to socialize with “trendy types.” Saxon believes in UFOs, the paranormal and conspiracy theories to the extent that he has the word “Roswell” tattooed on his arm. Saxon has a “psychological allergy to vegetables” and cannot function without meat. He is currently single.

Terri, 52, Retail Manager, NSW
An outspoken mother of two and grandmother, Terri will be the oldest person to go into the Big Brother House. Terri grew up in poverty, but now cites Pauline Hanson as her idol and has right wing views. Terri is passionate and political and frustrated with the younger generation. She is very anti drugs and a vociferous atheist. Her most prized possession is her grandson. Tue 29th April: Terri (housemates were forced to vote for one to leave just hours after commencing) but she returned to the house as Corey’s guardian and was reinstated as a housemate.

Travis, 20, Marketing Coordinator, NSW
Travis’ trademark is his high-pitched and squeaky voice. He has a unique look and is flamboyant and excitable. Travis is a virgin who attends church and is antidrugs. Women like him –he’s a girl’s best friend. His favourite movie is “The Devil Wears Prada.” He has had three girlfriends but his best friend is his horse named Thunder. Travis is honest and admits he is hoping for a crack at the prize money.

SYNOPSIS
Australia’s favourite reality show, Big Brother returns for its 8th year and kicks off with an amazing night on Monday April 28 with new hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O.

The concept is simple; a group of people share a house sealed from the outside world for up to 3 months. Thirty-seven hidden cameras watch their every move and 96 microphones pick up their every word 24-hours a day. There is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, every moment in the House may be broadcast live on the net/and or in segments in the various Big Brother programs.

The Housemates receive minimal interference from Big Brother and ultimately the happenings in the House are created from their day to day experiences. The audience ultimately decides who wins.

The Twelve Commandments according to the main man himself are:
– No contact with the outside world
– Nominations are compulsory
– Nominations cannot be discussed with other Housemates
– Housemates can only ever talk with Big Brother in the Diary Room
– Housemates may not communicate in code and/or foreign or sign languages
– Housemates may never act violently
– Housemates may never bully anyone
– Housemates must not knowingly defame or vilify any individual or group
– All sexual attention must be invited and consent be mutual and informed
– All tasks are compulsory
– Housemates cannot discuss former series or what they will do if they win
– Housemates must always obey Big Brother

The Thirteenth Commandment is that Big Brother reserves the right to change the rules at any time.

So what will Big Brother have in store for 2008? Who will go in to the house – will we have a nuclear physicist, a meter maid, a rock star or even a priest ?

From thousands of applications the final Housemates have now been chosen via a newly implemented search strategy and a first time interactive online voting system.

What twists and turns will Big Brother have in store for the Housemates? What will the Big Brother House look like? Are any of those conspiracy theories we have all been reading about for months even remotely true? Will there be a twist in 2008? What’s at stake for the winner?

For the answer to all that and more watch on Monday 28 April at 7.00pm on TEN.
Big Brother is produced by Endemol Southern Star for Network Ten.

WEBSITE
The Big Brother website gives you an ongoing link to exactly what’s going on in the House. It’s constantly updated and has live streaming, video clips, news stories, a hugely popular blog, a blow-by-blow “What’s Happening” section that’s updated every half hour, galleries, polls, tipping competitions, forums and loads more.

In 2008, the website is more involved than ever before. Prior to launch, the site played host to the audition process – with would-be Housemates submitting a short video that the public could watch, rate and nominate. This allowed the audience to get on board and start interacting with the Housemates before the show even hit screens – and the site had millions of unique page views in just a few weeks.

In 2007, the Big Brother website was the most googled TV show site in Australia. In the early months of ‘08, it was already rated as one of the highest TV show sites – and as the show’s popularity increases, bigbrother.com.au in 2008’s sure to follow.

  1. Excellent! Thanks for the clarification Dave. At least now I know there’s a definite date so there’s not the overhanging cloud of not knowing when they’re coming back.

  2. It’s one of the oddest decisions TEN has done in a while. They should have paused ROE not BTY. They are back to normal from May 21.

  3. What’s going on, now Rules of Engagement is back next Wednesday (May 7) in Back to You’s timeslot?! What’s with that?! Are they just going to alternate them every week now for the next 3 months? This doesn’t make sense. There’s only 4 episodes of Back to You left for this season anyway, why don’t they just let those air and then let RoE finish it’s run?! Or better yet, just let the two shows have their old timeslots back and shaft the “Crowded House” BB to Tuesday or Thursday nights from 7pm. This is annoying.

  4. They axed Rules of Engagement for THIS?! That hour long Wednesday edition of this bloody show had better only be for the next 2 weeks. RoE is the show I most look forward to watching every week next to Back to You (LOST, HIMYM, etc don’t count as I don’t watch them on FTA TV). Its one of the few shows I don’t bother to download, and the double sitcom hour lineup is a fantastic combination for Wednesday nights. This is pathetic. If they don’t bring it back in 2 weeks I’ll start downloading RoE, if not earlier.

  5. If Saxon is from SA, why was he filmed in a Gold Coast City Council truck as well as on a Gold Coast beach (looked like Palm Beach, but it could have been Greenmount or Burleigh Beach)?

    Evan :->

  6. Any news if there will be any content on HD? On Mike Goldman’s site he mentions that it should have a live streaming element.

as6: Yes we do. So learn to use your remote!
