Got to side with the human dree on this one. Rove is about as unfunny as it gets and it’s an embarrasment to australia just to see him on US tv. His show is painful and often cringe worthy stuff and only held afloat by guys like Hughsie who is actually funny & people with sad taste.

Dree, if you think Variety will source names from chat rooms in a news article I think you need to take another look at Variety.

Variety has cred. The fact they even mentioned an Aussie host makes it newsworthy for this site. They don't always name sources obviously. They don't have to. They're Variety and with their history as the showbiz bible that's good enough.

Nobody said he was getting it. Nobody said he should get it. He's been reported by Variety in a league with big US names. In my book that's actually news enough.

The news is in Variety putting McManus in the article itself, regardless of how likely, or indeed how credible, anybody in Oz views the notion.

News Ltd publications also picked up on his mention, but failed to note that Leno has reportedly had second thoughts on leaving Tonight, hence putting some more context on the landscape here.

Report: Fallon To Replace O'Brien On 'Late Night'

Jimmy Fallon has been tapped to replace Conan O'Brien on NBC's Late Night when O'Brien takes over hosting duties on The Tonight Show from Jay Leno next year, Fox.com entertainment columnist Roger Friedman reported today (Thursday), saying it was "a done deal." Friedman, who cited no sources, said that NBC plans to make a formal announcement around May 11th when it presents its fall schedule to advertisers.

I don’t want to be too harsh, but is Rove really being looked at for US TV as a late night host, there would be many people in front of him and these guys have to work hard to even get a look, maybe another gold logie will get him the gig, or not.
