Returning: Fishing Australia

They may play sworn enemies on Underbelly, but actors Gyton Grantley and Les Hill go fishing together in the first episode of Fishing Australia’s new season.

“If you like the boys in Underbelly, you’ll love seeing them in real-life competing out on the ocean – they had a ball,” host Rob Paxevanos said.

“Knife jigs require a lot of skill and the boys were fast learners, they pull in some beauties, each averaging around 95cm in length.”

The series returns to WIN TV Saturday May 10 at 5:30pm.

Press Release:

From the underworld to underwater, actors Gyton Grantley (plays Carl Williams) and Les Hill (plays Jason Moran) from Australian hit UNDERBELLY, tackle deep-sea fishing at Eden off the NSW far South Coast guided by FISHING AUSTRALIA’s Rob Paxevanos, Saturday, May 10 at 5.30pm on WIN.

Enemies in UNDERBELLY but mates on the water, Gyton and Les declare ‘the competition is on!’ Aboard the good ship Argus the boys score a string of snapper followed by a good catch of striped tuna with skirted lures. Gyton and Les also learn the technique of jigging and reel in some top-notch yellowtail kingfish – a highlight for them both.

In its biggest season yet, FISHING AUSTRALIA is joined by Australian champion ballroom dancer, Natalie Lowe, a keen angler who, with Okuma and The National Breast Cancer Foundation, has developed a stylish ladies range of rods and reels - The Femme Fatale Combo.

Also this year, Rob meets up with AFL star Mark Bickley at the remote and wild location of Wedge Island, South Australia. Internationally renowned actor Vinnie Jones (The Riddle, Johnny Was, X-Men: The Last Stand, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) meets Rob at Geraldton in WA to try fly fishing for tropical species. Plus, Channel Nine sports presenter Michael Thomson and former Australian cricket captain Kim Hughes team up to reel in some massive sampson fish off from the Rottnest Island, WA.

This is just a taste of what FISHING AUSTRALIA has tucked in the tackle bag for 2008 along with more tips and techniques for fishing the ocean, coast and inland. Wind in your line in time for FISHING AUSTRALIA, Saturday afternoons at 5.30pm on WIN.
