Auditions: Chopping Block

A second series of The Chopping Block?

That’s one I wouldn’t have banked on. But like the second course of Seven’s My Restaurant Rules, Nine is having another go at the reality contest.

The series didn’t exactly set the oven on fire, but it did improve from figures in the low 700,000s to 1m by series end. And that was before the Gordon Ramsay phenomenon.

Maybe Nine is hoping to improve the show (either put Catriona Rowntree in the action or take her out altogether, please). NBC also picked up the format by David Cress and Julian Barbour with some adjustments which you can read here.

Nine’s contestant call indicates Matt Moran is back on deck, but there are no other names. Presumably the show will need a different food critic now restaurants have seen his identity.

  1. Aside from the premiere it rated around the 1.1m mark and the finale was somewhere between 1.1 & 1.2 which is not too bad. The only reason I’m slightly surprised is because Nine have the local show with Ramsay later in the year.

  2. Yay. This became my favourite show this year, but yes, please remove Rowntree; she’s horrible.

The critic (David someone?) was most of the value in the show, so I don’t know if they could replace him. Unless of course I’m the only one that thought he was funny.

  3. Yay I really like this show, and how everything is wrapped up nicely in one episode instead of being dragged out over weeks like so many reality shows.

    Bring it on.
