Axed: Aliens in America

CW sitcom Aliens in America has been axed. The show is about a Wisconsin teenager and the foreign exchange student his mother arranges to host, believing the visitor will help her socially awkward son become more popular. The student turns out to be a Muslim teenager from Pakistan.

Despite rave reviews when it debuted last fall, the comedy went largely ignored by viewers. TVGuide’s Michael Ausiello describes is as “a fantastic little show.”

It is believed to have been one of a number of shows that Nine may have acquired, yet it was never announced as part of its 2008 slate.

Meanwhile, Ausiello says CW’s supernatural television comedy-drama Reaper is “90 percent likely” to be renewed. Seven has previously confirmed this for 2008.

I thought this show was not bad, certainly a bit different, had a kind of Malcolm in the Middle feeling to it. I’m sure it would have only gotten better with time..its a shame really.

I hope Big Bang Theory isn’t next to go..

The Kids and I liked this show too. The narration style of the story by one of the leads, has been used before but it suits this show. Will miss it, as many more will, judging by the clamor on the web. At least Reaper looks like being greenlit for next season which is good, cause this storyline just keeps getting better!

Another good show that’s been axed. This was great in the same vein as Freaks and Geeks and My So Called Life, although not half as good as those. Still, it was one of the more intelligent shows on TV, and the mum and sister on the show were hawt. Oh well, ratings were horrible, doesn’t surprise me its been axed.

Itsross, Big Bang Theory has been renewed for a second season already. I didn’t like that show, too much physics and not enough humour.

I disagree on Reaper, it was brilliant in its pilot episode but since then it has been going downhill ever since with its formulaic storyline and too much whining from Sam. And now with the rebellion storyline with all the demons wanting to kill Sam, its all very OTT and cliched I reckon. Plus they portray the Devil in a positive light as a wisecracking old Santa, which isn’t good on any level.

    I say good riddance.

Once again, the US has shown that it has absolutely no sense of the cultures beyond its borders.

    Hah. richotb.
There you go. you can’t please everyone. I like the continued thread of the gay demons. I think it gives the storyline more places to go and seriously, would you have the devil sterotyped? It’s a comedy and besides, I think Ray Wise portrays him well and you can feel the evil lurking beneath that Santa veneer. Again off topic. Sorry I get carried away. Aliens RIP and syndication :)

Got something to say?
