Calm before the Logie storm

Here is your sneak peek of the atrium at Melbourne’s Crown Casino, as the television industry prepares to paint the town gold tomorrow.

A giant gold curtain is draped over the Crown staircase, themed no doubt, in accordance with this 50th ceremony for the Logie Awards. Traditionally, stars don’t actually climb the stairs -the last thing we need to see are soapie stars tumbling in their high heels.

It looks a little more swish, I concede, than the milk crates and bottled water at the Fugly Awards yesterday, but we love them all equally, right?

On Sunday afternoon from 4pm the first stars will begin to gather (nobody wants to be first) before the media throng, huddled behind a tiny rope. Hosting the Red Carpet Event (why isn’t it gold this year?) are Jules Lund, Shelley Craft and Livinia Nixon. That means, shudder, Richard Wilkins actually gets to walk the thing instead of shouting “mate, mate” from behind a microphone.

So TV Tonight will be there shouting “mate” and bringing you photos and goss. Who’s wearing who? Who cares? Who was ignored? Who loitered for every last ounce of free publicity? And who was absolutely charming?

Check here on Sunday from about 7:00pm onwards as the Logies blog begins. God help us all.

  1. Leo it will be a mix of both, but I will definitely try to nab some of those names! It’s a bit of a bun fight on the Red Carpet so sometimes people you want you can’t always get. But of course I want legends.

  2. I’m sure TV Tonight will no doubt give some attention to those who arent pretty young nothings.
    I would love to see pics & interview of our older very talented actors including Jackie Woodburne, Val Lehman, Ray Meagher, Cornelia Frances, Collette Mann etc.
    I can’t wait for the Logies – its my fave awards show of the year!!

  3. Can’t wait love the logies! Hopefully there will be plenty of nods to the great tv shows/actors of the past 50 years. Excellent choice for hosts too in Livinia,Jules & Shelley who are all popular.
