Chaser courted with US pilot
The Chaser's Craig Reucassel says the team has been approached to shoot a pilot in the US.
The approach follows international coverage for their APEC prank last year. The show already screens in a number of territories with re-packaged sequences that aren't quite so Aussie-centric.
But Reucassel admitted there were still several factors to iron out.
"In some ways it seems like a good thing to do but in others there are still a few questions to be asked," he told news.com.au
One of those questions is whether the comedic troupe will retain creative control -and that's a huge question.
Gina Riley and Jane Turner remain executive producers on the Americanised Kath and Kim and Chris Lilley's Summer Heights High will screen in the US and Britain in its original form.
"We're not really keen to go and do a massively watered-down version of what we do," Reucassel said.
"And things are definitely still in the pilot stage which kind of involves figuring out what they want and whether it is something we want to do."

I hope that ABC Australia doesn't loose their broadcast rights to the Chasers in Australia.
?!?!?!?!?
They have always talked of never moving to a Commercial Network over here but they might go to the States and do it over there?
I've never believed in the word "Sell Out" think its an empty word but this move does seem to contradict everything they stand for. They fail over there then they can forget about there cred over here.
fangera - they never ruled out the idea of going to a commercial network. It was always an issue on how much creative control they could have.
I think the extreme censorship on commercial tv would be too much for them, but they might be able to do well on US cable where all the better shows go!
The only thing i would be concerned with is if they tried anything like the APEC stunt or running up to GWB with various tools, they would get a one way all expenses paid trip to gitmo.
They have done sketches on the show about going over to network TV bagging sponsorship, cross-overs, high production values and un-original formats. Not only would the huge pay packets sway them (they are Sydney Post-Grads after all) but the creative control would have been a gimmie and the networks would no doubt have to bow to that one.
It would be a great thing for them to do well over there, but their fans over here would defiantly suffer.
Like John said to Paul just before making Let It Be! Don't forget your roots man!!
