Kate meeting Rove
Gold Logie winner Kate Ritchie will make one of her most significant appearances on a rival network since leaving Home and Away, when she appears on Rove on Sunday night.
She will be joined by Judith Lucy, Hamish & Andy, and Faker performing their hit single "This Heart Attack".
The following week Rove's guests are Sarah Jessica Parker, The Chaser Boys, Julia Morris, and Vanessa Amorisi performing her new single "Perfect".
Meanwhile some press in Oz are reporting that Rove "failed" to land the hosting gig on Late Night after NBC confirmed it would go to Jimmy Fallon when Conan O'Brien exits (the Herald Sun actually couldn't decide whether it was Jimmy Fallon or Jimmy Kimmel). For the record I don't ever recall seeing any quotes from McManus that he was actively pursuing this, but that's not to say there weren't manouvers behind the scenes.
This news was effectively out some weeks ago.

Is Kate there to talk about the Gold, promote the radio show, or is there something else we can look forward to?
I really, truly hope that her next on screen role is not only as far from Sally as possible, but she also does an amazing job of it. I have faith, but it's also a matter of whether anyone is willing to give her a chance or not.
Sally was a pretty straight character, more on the serious/dramatic side. Not only is there limited roles for females in our industry (a trend that should be aggressively changed) but to do a 180 of that would be a light hearted comedic role. And we know how many light Australian comedies there are in Australia. Radio is a good start, shows a more playful side to her personality and gets her used to improv. Maybe some on-air hosting is foreseeable. ITT she was a little un-charismatic. The radio will defiantly help that.
Until our industry generates some big bucks, the branching out of genre is very limited.
It was just another excuse to beat up on Rove.
It was a done deal for Fallon over a year ago. Rove knew he was not in the running, there was only ever going to be Fallon, Rove did say he would look at the U.S. but not necessarily Late Night.
