SBS: a whole new www

By David Knox on May 7, 2008 / Filed Under News 4

Following on from its revised logo earlier today, SBS has now launched its new-look website.

The front page of the site is a clean, white design featuring dedicated sections on news, headlines, television, radio, videos, podcasts, blogs and more.

SBS Managing Director Shaun Brown said: “The new brand reflects the contribution SBS makes to Australia’s cultural and creative identity and what the Australian public values about SBS.

“Our audience told us that our unique Charter continues to be what makes SBS special and that we play a leading role in reflecting the true diversity of Australia. But they also told us that we needed a more contemporary expression that reflected their perception of modern, multicultural Australia.

“SBS’s creative team have worked hard to give life to the new brand across platforms – there are new sounds, new sights and a new feel to television, radio and online.”

Love the fact that SBS has got into the idea of blogs.. even one by Mr TV Tonight himself! But David I don’t know if these blogs are a work in progress but can you let the boffins at SBS.com.au know that if they want people to follow their blogs they need to RSS them!! :)

Their audience has also been telling them that they don’t want program-interrupting ad breaks.

    Selective listening, eh, Mr Brown?

(For the record, I *despise* that standard-issue, inane and completely baseless “our audience told us…” spin that seems to be the mantra of every commercial TV network exec… yes, including SBS).

The site has come a long way since its launch in 1997.
