Underbelly too?
"For those of you who are hoping to see a little bit more of Underbelly, I've just heard the word from David Gyngell.. .second series is coming."
It was actor Les Hill who gave the Logie room the best news of the night -and he didn't appear to be joking either. After all it's one thing to get a gold trophy, it's another to get six months work.
But today a Nine spokeswoman was coy about any more on the gangster hit. "All we have to go by is what Les Hill said at the Logies, no official statement has been announced" (read: publicity would have really preferred to have the news ahead of the bloody actors, thanks).
Today Hill added more to the news, telling the Nine Network, "I spoke with David Gyngell and he said go ahead and mention the fact that there is another series on the way."
Of course, last year Jeffery Browne* brazenly announced a second series of Sea Patrol at the launch for the first series, without having the benefit of seeing early ratings. The second season is now on air. At least with Underbelly, Nine knows it has a hit.
"They're looking at stories, they're investigating," said Hill.
Some media reports suggest the second series could be a prequel.
The final episode airs this Wednesday night.
*corrected.

Actually, it was Jeff Browne who announced the second Sea Patrol before the 1st one had even screened.
Thats why he isn't in charge of the network anymore - no idea how TV works !!!
It would have to be a prequel.
All the characters in the show are dead.
John you are completely correct. My bad. Been a long weekend!
surely the announcement during the logies was a joke ? does he want more melbourne gangland killings to occur ? :) whats new since 2006 ? carl williams in gaol ? the "matriachs battle" on today tonight ?
... ooh, and there's also the DVD underground distribution ring ... that's new, right? :-P
