Bumped: Boston Legal

Boston Legal will soon move courtrooms, from 9:30pm to 10:30pm Mondays on Seven.

On Monday June 23 and 30 there are two eps: a new episode at 9:30pm followed by a repeat at 10:30pm.

On July 7, the new episodes screen permanently in their old home of 10:30pm.

At 9:30pm is a new ep of Criminal Minds, which will be getting twice-weekly runs (Mon / Wed).

30 Rock remains at 11:30pm. Kindly check local guides for other states.

  1. It’s a shame they are shifting back to 10.30pm. It’s been getting pretty good ratings, considering it screens at 9.30pm in some cities and 10.30pm in others (Perth & Brisbane).

  2. So all those ads during Desperate Housewives (All New Boston Legal … in one hour …in 30 minutes …in 20 minutes …in 10 minutes …next) showing all the key jokes in each episode didn’t help it get high enough ratings?

What were Seven thinking with the bombarding of ads? It almost put me off watching and I like the show.

  3. My thoughts exactly. It would have been good for ABC in America to double them up as well, but unfortunately Eli’s been getting less-than-stellar ratings over there. Good thing they’re good sports and renewed it for a full 22 ep second season. My first impressions of Eli was that it was actually like Boston Legal, only not as good. Upon further episodes I really got into it though. Both shows are great. Its a shame BL only has one final 13 ep season though, but at least they’ll be able to give the storylines closure.

Back to Seven, this is rediculous. Now they’re airing Criminal Minds 3x a week, at Mondays at 9:40, and also double episodes on Wednesdays. If they’re going to do multiple screenings of cop shows, they may as well do it with Bones instead. I’m not a fan of it, but its a lot better than CM. At least the character aren’t completely monotonous, one-sided one-dimensional drones.

  4. I didn’t realise that Seven had the rights for Eli Stone; if that’s the case I’m really surprised they haven’t tried using it as a double-bill with Boston Legal. The shows have a similar tone, would appeal to the same audience, and Eli Stone’s even got a former David E Kelley cast member in it. And George Michael 😀

  5. Its been like that for around 6 weeks in Brisbane. I guess now its being shafted across the rest of the nation as well. Its a shame, as Boston Legal is one of the wittiest, funniest shows on television, but at least 7 gave it a shot in an earlier slot. Its annoying that bloody Criminal Minds repeats are taking over the slot though. That show is like Law and Order: Criminal Intent, except mundane and generic in every aspect. I’ll go on to say its the worst show on television (it used to be Shark, but then…that was cancelled). They should air Eli Stone now. Thats a good show and they could fast-track season 2 from the US straight after the first one wraps.
