Hurt gets damaged

Damages fans you want the good news or the bad news?

The good news is William Hurt is joining the cast. The bad news is we won’t see the show until 2009. Dammit!

Hurt will take his first-ever regular role in a TV series when filming begins next week. He will have a season-long arc as a client of Patty Hewes (Glenn Close), believed to have both a personal and professional history with Patty. The casting reunites him with Close, a previous cast member on The Big Chill.

Rose Byrne and Tate Donovan will join Close and Hurt as regulars, reprising their roles from last season.

Damages was easily the best new drama of 2007, even though it left some viewers confused and baffled both in Australia and the US. It was a classy, malevolent series (highly recommended on DVD guys!). I don’t know how I will wait until 2009 for the next thrilling instalment.

Hurt has starred in several TV miniseries in his career and made a handful of guest appearances, but Damages will mark Hurt’s first regular role in a weekly series.

  1. I just finished watching damages. I rented it on dvd and watched all 13 episodes within 24 hours (kudos to holidays.) What an awesome show. Can’t wait for season 2

I believe January is when it restarts again.

  2. I’m one of many that didn’t really get into Damages.

I tried, honestly I did, but I just didn’t get hooked.

Shall ahve to give it another go another go on DVD.

  3. woo hoo!! I loved Damages, primarily for Glenn Close, who is such a fantastic actor, and now William Hurt, another of my long-time faves.
