When journos collate their annual TV list of inglorious moments at the end of the year there’s little doubt Eddie hosting ACA will be somewhere at the top end.
Eddie has always been the Nine salesman (and Andrew O’Keefe is Seven’s), a swagger in his voice that is perfect for some, note some, genres. Tonight he had the snake-oil on Roberta Williams, Big Brother’s “cult buster” David, the petrol crisis, a battle over a bridge and a competition winner.
But Eddie’s unscripted back-announcements after each story were startlingly out of place. Maybe he could consult Mike “mmmm there’s something in that for all of us” Moore for the rest of the week? Look out for these ones:
“We’ll put you back in your shell, there’s no doubt about it.”
“Getcha pen and paper out right now.”
“I still reckon 15 questions, 3 lifelines, $1m dollars you can’t beat that.”
“The shoe shop owner with no soul, we’ll put the boots in tomorrow.”
For the record, I watched Eddie working on Millionaire last year in the studio and he was outstanding. He entered the millionaire arena, ignored the autocue, and introduced the show without dropping a beat -all live to air.

i turn the tv on at 6 for the news and off till 7 until two and a half men are on. I can not see how ACA TT are still on the air.
Who can really enjoy watching them?
“Just read the Teleprompt, Eddie. This isn’t a night at the improv”.
Everything was up because of public holiday, and a curiosity factor for ACA. Tonight will be the real test.
ACA had one of its best nights ever last night only being beaten by today tonight by a mere 51,000 viewers when it normally would be thumped by today tonight surely the only reason why it did so well was because everyone tuned in to see what Eddie was like I would safely say that it will be thumped by today tonight from tonight on
but the ratings are closer for ACA to Today Tonight than they have been all year…
You know what this means – Tracey is about to be boned !!!
I thought I was watching Wide World of Sports…The show is now about “Eddie” and not the content -which has always been rubbish.
Westacott announced the change as late as possible so the media in Sydney couldnt make their deadlines to have a crack!
This performance has just given them ammunition.
god, I cant stand him, hes just so smug..grrrr
lol its so boring seeing all the content cut out like that. It feels like Eddies just reading the nightly news update on some impoverished news channel like those I used to watch in Wagga Wagga 🙂
I can’t take this show seriously anymore… not that I could to begin with.

Bring back ray martin don’t get me wrong I have nothing against Eddie he is a fantastic game show host but as a current affairs show host he just doesn’t cut it if ray is unavailable then the sock puppet will do
