The skinny on the Q

David Koch has a Q Score rating of 14. Melissa Doyle and newsreader Natalie Barr both scored 12, with Sunrise sports reader Mark Beretta scoring 9.

Today hosts Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson scored six and five respectively. Georgie Gardner has a six, Richard Wilkins had a score of just four and Cameron Williams only rates a two.

They are the Q Scores -the industry-researched figures that poll personality popularity with the viewing audience. Q Scores are utilised by networks to rate performance, in addition to ratings figures.

A score of 10 and above is deemed high, with a low score being three and an average score sitting at six.

A Nine Network spokeswoman played down the importance of Q Scores, suggesting they were not a definitive measure of popularity.

“We’ve never placed a great deal of importance on them,” the spokeswoman said.

“Star quality and audience appeal is measured on many other factors, including ratings.”

Tracey Grimshaw has also consistently out-classed her rival Anna Coren, despite losing in the ratings.

The Seven Network has picked David Koch to host its upcoming Battle of the Choirs.
