Indie production hopes to Revolutionise teen dramas

Actors Peter Phelps and Melissa Tkautz recently wrapped work on an unsigned Sydney-based pilot that is hoping to find a place on our screens.

Revolution is an independently produced teen drama, described as “Gossip Girl meets Veronica Mars.”

Phelps and Tkautz play parents in the completed pilot. It also stars Lachlan Buchanan (Blue Water High) and Frank Sweet (2:37). Impressively, it has been directed by an associate producer from the US series of Angel, R. D. Price.

Press Release:
From internet sensation Emma Paige Langley, comes the new frontier in Australian Television…Directed by former Associate Producer of the hit US show “ANGEL”, RD Price…

Welcome to Amanda’s world… Behind the iron gates of prominent wealthy Sydney suburb “Mermaid Cove” lives 16 year old Amanda Prescott, and while not born into wealth, fits the part. Entitled, self obsessed and considered to be close to perfect. Since Amanda’s mother married a affluent plastic surgeon and uprooted her daughter from her western suburbs public school at the age of 12, Amanda was thrust upon this life, a role she took willingly.

But after years of living the high life, being respected and feared as the leader of the most popular girl in school, getting everything she wants, and keeping all her secrets under wraps, her life turns 360 degrees in the space of only one day when her childhood ‘Scholarship kid’ best friend enrols at her high school and the infidelities of both her dreamboat long term boyfriend and her mother are uncovered.

Add to the mix: the elitist and entitled groups ‘The Mermaids’ and ‘The Tritons’, Her outspoken friend Peyton, new guy Deacon, uptight overachiever Christopher, and gay best friend Carlos.

A place where classes and cultures collide and secrets are kept and uncovered…
Buxton Academy will never be the same…

  1. eh!

To Herman: You can do anything in this town if you have the money, the actors werent doing anything at the time, Aussie stars cant afford to be out of work for any amount of time… The cast members didnt get the script before signing up.

This production was again finded by her family.

And the Buffy script if you google her name was apparentally plagarised…

  2. I am so sick of our local TV and film production right now.
It seems that time and again its the same half dozen or so faces you saw in the previous show, next show, last night and tomorrow night too…..
Is there no one on casting books not called Phelps, Colosimo, Davey, McCune McInnes, Holden, Dimitriades, Bourne, Sweet, Howard, blah, blah, blah, ect, ect, ect……
Seriously, what are the likes of F.J. Holden and S Bourne still doing on TV?
How can be taken seriously as actors, honestly?
Perhaps Aussie TV and film would become a bit (or a lot) more interesting with an injection of new blood – not necessarily younger blood – but fresh, talented interesting faces who hopefully won’t flee overseas but stay on to revitalise the industry and save us from reality TV purgatory.
Lets not keep casting the same boring faces and dooming promising new shows and films to failure simply because there is not enough freash talent on the books and people are sick of watching people they are sick of seeing and hearing.
    Might be a bit harsh?

  3. This one is for ‘god’.. one i would like to see you do acting half as good as lachy buchanan..yes blue water high isn’t the best show on abc atm though it’s got nothing to do with lachy!
Personally i think this show has got what it takes to be a popular one without needing any murder mistery bullsh**t.. i think this has an interesting concept with a sexy cast and will go far if the pilot is impressive to the networks. Well done to Ms Langley and i hope things work for her! goodluck!

  4. I think it would be great if this show was picked up by one of the major networks. One because we need more drama on tv and two it stars Melissa Tkautz ( who i adore). I think she is old enough to play a Mum with a teenager as apparently she gives birth quite young while living on the wrong side of town and later meets a plastic surgeon who sweeps her and her daughter of they’re feet. Be great to see Ms Tkautz back on tv again and i think the show has an interesting premise, who knows where it might go.

  5. I had to look up who “internet sensation” Emma Paige Langley was – it turns out she made a Buffy fan film funded mainly by her parents. It must have been pretty impressive to line up the kind of talent for this pilot.

Also Ms Langley starred in that project, I wonder if she’s the lead in this one too?

  6. I see the resemblance to Gossip Girl, spoiled rich teens being annoying on a television series. But Veronica Mars? I don’t see the resemblance at all from the description, apart from a couple of obvious things like they’re set in high schools, are centred around teenagers, etc. I see no murder mystery or unique, compelling storyline device here. Its more like Gossip Girl meets Neighbours than anything else.

  7. Lachlan Buchanan can not act! They’ve turned Blue Water High into some cheap American kids show. I think the first two seasons camera work and actors were better.
