Kath & Kim on the move

NBC is moving Kath & Kim again, this time swapping places with 30 Rock.

It will now air on NBC’s Thursday 8:30 p.m. slot, following My Name Is Earl, after it has been deemed more compatible with Earl than The Office which it was due to follow at 9:30pm.

NBC originally scheduled the comedy on Tuesday night to follow The Biggest Loser. In May, the network moved it to the post-Office Thursday 9:30 p.m. slot and it was recently increased from 6 to 13 episodes.

But there have also been reports that media analysts predicted the show would struggle, while one report suggested it may be re-shot. In this tenuous pre-show climate, the PR game is a delicate balancing act. The show needs to launch with a fair shot, and here’s hoping it will.

The new timeslot will see it compete against Survivor, Ugly Betty, Moment of Truth and Smallville.

American journos are describing the show as a comedy about a “brassy mother and daughter who prefer the finer things in life like acrylic nails, big hair and faux diamond chips.”
