Neighbours move in online

FremantleMedia is eyeing a plan to make Neighbours more accessible online via a social networking site like MySpace or Facebook.

NewsLimited reports that given hundreds of YouTube users check out the latest episodes of Aussies soaps online, the production company wants to utilise multiple platforms for its programs.

More info to come on this story, but a smart move that embraces media platforms rather than ignores them.

  1. I have no problem with the idea of the UK being able to watch it online, however I would think five would have something to say about that.

as to the neighbours website, the article mentions YouTube where anyone can watch it, rather than neighbours.com , which as you say is limited to Aus only.

  2. Jane, if everyone in the UK started watching it online causing the ratings to decrease over there, money wont be made and the show will cease to exist. Its not like Neighbours has DVD revenue to fall back on.

  3. Ian, if they limit it to Aus (Oz?) only then what would be the difference between that and their own website, where the videos are limited to Oz only?

What is wrong with us in the UK keeping up-to-date with you in Oz?

  4. I would guess alot of people watching it on YouTube are Brits, and im sure they would have limit it to Aus only, so they might not get the numbers they are expecting.
