Seven to stream live Olympics

Knowing that Australians will be chasing Olympic results while they are working in the office, Seven has announced its online partner Yahoo will stream live coverage during the daytime.

However with so many simultaneous sports, there is no indication yet which events will actually stream live.

Seven’s announcement comes days after NBC said it would stream 3000 hours of footage online to Vista users -but only after it has aired on television. Other media organisations in the US are angry over NBC’s video exclusivity, but the media giant says it has paid for the right with a whopping $3.5b price tag.

Yahoo says it will provide our biggest online Olympics coverage ever, boasting more than 100 hours of footage thought it doesn’t indicate if all 100 hours are actually live. Its dedicated website will also provide 7 packages, streaming of the YumCha morning programme, along with loads of results, medal tallies, editorial and blogs.

Yahoo gave out the address as http://www.yahoo!7.com.au/Olympics which wasn’t working at time of filing this story. However au.sports.yahoo.com/olympics/ works just fine.

  1. Hello Ianblair23! I know you from your regular wikipedia edits on television! Anyway, I can say Roy & HG won’t be happening this year due to timezones and Seven’s broadcasting schedule means their coverage won’t be finished until around 2am in the morning, meaning Roy & HG would be on this late, making it oretty worthless.

  2. David, this indeed great news.

On another note, is any word on whether Roy & HG will be doing a nightly show during this Olympics? I thoroughly enjoyed the The Dream and The Ice Dream during 2000 and 2002.
