It’s been a rumour for sometime but it was only days ago that Shannen Doherty was actually confirmed to appear in 90210, the spin-off of the original Beverly Hills 90210.

Doherty will reprise her original character, ‘Brenda Walsh’, who returns to her old high school to be a guest director of the school’s musical production.

90210, which the producers insist is not a remake, premieres in the US on September 2nd.

Doherty will join with former castmate Tori Spelling who returns as the owner of an upscale boutique, though no one knows quite when. “She was exhausted from having a new baby,” said producer Gabe Sachs. “When she’s up for it, she’ll be in.”

Other characters, Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth) and Nat (Joe E. Tata), will return as a guidance counsellor and the owner of The Peach Pit, respectively.

Jason Priestly declined an invitation to participate.

In Australia, 90210 will screen on the TEN Network, home of the original series.
