Do you have the ratings for the ABC show Q&A?

    Love Wipeout!!

Seven would have to be happy with last nights RSPCA and medical emergency looks like they did the right thing by canning stupid Betty

Seven would have to be happy with Criminal Minds at the moment. It kicked Cold Cases butt last night considering it was Cold Cases season final. Great show.

I almost fell off the treadmill I was laughing so hard at Wipeout last night at the gym.

While it’s not spectacularly intelligent viewing, it’s a million times better than “the one”.

Good to see it up near the top.

I don’t think you understand Rich, you named 90% American series.
We cant make shows on that level. We don’t have the budget, the population and the industry to do it. The writers of those shows alone make more than one of our entire budgets for a series.
If we compare Australia’s scripted material to America’s we will always look lame in comparison.
Why do you think we make so many reality based TV series? ITS CHEAP!
When we have 5 Million to spend on each episode I think you will find our quality would greatly improve.
And I’m an average viewer of TV and I know every show on your list.
If fans are downloading US shows on the internet and watching them, why are they so concerned if they run on free-to-air? They have seen them already!

Its a pleasure nathan87. Its always good to have an insightful conversation with someone free of ludicrous comments or demands. Unfortunately you’ll find that on forums and blogs all over the net you’ll meet bigoted people who feel that their opinion is an undebatable fact, but these people are just trolls and its best to just ignore them.

As for reality shows, I have to admit I do enjoy them from time to time. I caught the last series of Australia’s Got Talent and have been watching Battle of the Choirs since it premiered. I also enjoyed the Australian SYTYCD earlier in the year. And although its popular to hate it nowadays, I’ll probably still catch Australian Idol when I can if the talent is strong enough. Its also probably a good thing you don’t watch so many scripted series – I download pretty much every show I watch and I find that the more time I spend away from the computer, the better.

Cool, thanks for your indepth reply RichoTB.
While i don’t always agree with the comments you make but that’s because everyone likes different shows i guess. I also like Prison Break and Rove, so we do have some common interests. I’m probably more into the reality and variety shows as I don’t have the time to get into too many series in fears that they will get yanked off at the drop of a hat.
    Thanks again mate.

My favourite shows include Boston Legal, Desperate Housewives, Heroes, Prison Break, LOST, 24, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Life and Rules of Engagement to name a few that have aired recently.

Other long-time favourites include Buffy, Angel, Tru Calling, Day Break, Family Guy, Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Entourage, Jericho, Kyle XY, Freaks and Geeks, Traveler, The Chaser’s War on Everything and Rove.

In the future I’m looking forward to Seven finally airing Eli Stone, along with My Own Worst Enemy, Knight Rider, and other series they’ve slated for the second half of 2008. If Nine ever airs Chuck, that will be a nice as well, although I’ve already seen all of season one.

Most of those shows would be fairly vague to the average viewer, but I enjoy them, and don’t particularly care what other people think of them. Another person has been recently abusing me over the ludicrous argument that I should watch “local content” like Bondi Rescue. To me, it doesn’t matter where a show is made as long as its quality content, and I really just don’t find that in our nation’s TV. As for what I’d fill the primetime networks up with, that’s their job and they’re doing decently I suppose, but for one I would endeavour to create more scripted content on television and less factual series and would try to play series through consistently instead of just yanking them off air after a handful of episodes.

RichoTB… just wondering what shows do you enjoy? and if you could create your own Prime time TV line up…what would be in it?

  11. RichoTB July 14, 2008 at 5:53 pm -

I missed Battle of the Choirs last night but I don’t really care, even though its the only show on FTA TV I’m watching right now. I can see the CSI Sundays on Nine continuing to be rating strongly, along with 60 mins and Domestic Blitz. What on earth are Seven going to air after the Olympics on Sundays when PP and LJ finish their runs? Eli Stone? We can wish.

As for Ten, Dexter and Rove are doing well for them, although I hope America’s Next Top Model tanks when it airs in a couple of weeks. Can’t they find anything better to put in that slot? There’s got to be something, surely.

I’m surprised at Sixty Minutes strong performance as well. I thought the shameless self-promotion and watered-down issues would have a negative effect.

I’m glad to see it’s clawing its way back with some great stories.

Hope they can maintain the momentum.

  13. johntv July 14, 2008 at 11:32 am -

OMG – Sixty Minutes is getting stronger and stronger each week – another great show last night, especially the story on the drag racing deaths.

Its clear why Seven is giving serious thought to moving Dancing with the Stars to Sunday nights – they are getting thumped each week and they are not making it back during the rest of the week.

I tuned into Rove to see Elmo, such a funny little furball, Rove was trying to hard to re-create the “hug” moment last time Elmo was on! He tried to hug him with no response from the little red creature three times!!

i bet rove is happy he finally over took bb in ratings. he did really well, good on him! i can see his show only going up after bb is gone
