Chaser not back until 2009

Chas Licciardello has told AAP the Chaser team is happy at the ABC, where their show is due to return for another series early in 2009.

That effectively clarifies previous talk that the comedy team would rest from television for the first half of 2008, to focus on their stage show.

Licciardello did not give away much about what the program would be like next year, because he says they “haven’t got any ideas yet”.

“We’d really like to have a show that doesn’t involve us working 110 hours a week,” he says.

“That would be a welcome change, apart from that we’d like it to be funny,” he said.

Meanwhile the team is producing the new ABC comedy Lawrence Leung’s Choose Your Own Adventure.

And as for an talk of a move to commercial television: “At the moment the commercial networks aren’t offering us the right carrots,” Licciardello told AAP.

“We’ve been offered money, we’ve been offered better conditions but I’m yet to be offered an affair with Kerri-Anne Kennerley,” he joked.
