Perennial nice guy Daniel MacPherson yesterday firmed as the front runner to take on the hosting role of Seven’s Dancing with the Stars.
The news, expected to be officially confirmed by Seven tomorrow, follows confirmation that Larry Emdur was told on Monday that he was not getting the gig. If McPherson is given the role, he would be a busy boy -his City Homicide co-star Shane Bourne already turned it down.
But MacPherson, who hosted the short-lived X Factor for TEN, would surely give the show a fresh lift. TEN’S show was so long ago, he has risen above any of its baggage (most of which wasn’t associated with his duties anyway). It allows the dancing show to ‘start over’ without audience preconceptions that might be attached to other Seven presenters including Emdur, Andrew O’Keefe and Grant Denyer.
And with the workload of two major shows, it would certainly take someone capable of running a television marathon.
MacPherson has a good reputation with industry and media as a likeable bloke. He’d make a great match with Sonia Kruger.
