Update: Australia wins Gold in the Womens 4x100m relay.

Grant Hackett has won Silver at the 1500m freestyle at the Water Cube. Tunisia’s Ousamma Mellouli took Gold with 14:40:84.

Hackett finished in 14:41:53 time ahead of Canada’s Ryan Cochrane at 14:42:69 who took Bronze.

Cochrane led Hackett for most of the race until Mellouli made a break.

“It’s disappointing to get so close.” said Hackett.

“I know I finished with everything I had.”

Hackett, who joins Kieran Perkins as the only Olympian to win a medal in the same event across 3 Olympiads, said he wouldn’t make any decisions about his future right now.


Also today Australia won Gold in the 4x100m relay and Cate Campbell won Bronze in the women’s 50m freestyle.
