A pregnant waitress appearing in a shoot for The Chopping Block has accused the production of extreme reality tactics, including chasing her down a street, in pursuit of dramatic footage.
Sasha Wisz, who is 6 1/2 months pregnant, said she was given no special treatment and forced to work 12-hour days when the cooking show filmed scenes at Lake Macquarie restaurant Anacapri.
“They had me up on ladders with rollers doing shots,” she told news.com.au. “They made us stay 10 to 12 hours a day for the three days and usually we were there five hours a day, so it was a massive change to our normal schedule.”
Upset by the crew’s behaviour, a tearful Ms Wisz left the restaurant to clear her head. But the crew – two men and a woman – followed and she had to flee down the road before taking refuge in an ice-cream parlour.
“I just got so upset because they were basically not letting me leave,” she said.
“Coming into the ice-cream shop, that was ridiculous. I don’t know what they hoped to achieve by coming around the back of the counter, it was like they thought they were on some dramatic TV show – it’s just a cooking show!”
Owner of the ice cream parlour, Melinda Campbell, said she feared Ms Wisz could miscarry. “It was disgusting, absolutely disgusting,” she said.
A Nine spokeswoman called Ms Wisz’s story “inaccurate”.
