No denying the power of rumour

Talk of Melissa Doyle wanting out of Sunrise, or a payrise, have been hotly denied by Seven.

Media watchdog Crikey last week reported that, “it must be concerning to Seven that there are rumours drifting around Sunrise that the program’s anchor, Mel Doyle, wants out. I’ve heard that she has been talking to senior management about her future.”

But the next day Crikey said, “The Seven Network went full court press yesterday on my story suggesting Mel Doyle might be thinking of leaving Sunrise. Not true, she’s happy and staying…”

Today’s Confidential managed to add fuel to the fire by reiterating the rumours with another Seven denial. A ‘source’ said David Koch had asked for more money, leading to some sort of rift. The article then goes on to quote more denials.

A spokesperson at Sunrise last week told TV Tonight that Crikey’s claims were “utter crap.”

This week both Sunrise and Today Tonight are live from Beijing.
