TV’s one ring circus

Is there really any point analysing the weekly shares this week? Unless you’re a sponsor of the games, not really.

But for the record Seven took out a 43.9% share as all other networks, possibly with the exception of SBS, took a holiday.

Other shares were: Nine 18.5%, TEN 16.5%, ABC 14.5%, and SBS 6.6%.

The share for SBS is still in the ballpark of its average weekly figures, which is generally 5.5 – 7.0%. Unlike Seven, it did not top some previous weeks comprised of general programming.

Although they are official survey weeks, industry practice will not see the Olympic weeks factored into 2008 weekly wins or annual share.

Week 33.
