Lauper just wants to have Idol

Cyndi Lauper is the first big name being coaxed onto Australian Idol as a mentor. She joins the show for its 80’s Night next Sunday.

This year Idol said it would be including guest mentors and judges in the same way as the US production has utilised.

Lauper will also perform Time after Time on the Monday verdict show. She is in Australia to plug her new album.

“Because I have studied singing most of my life, naturally I can look at them and figure out what it is that they need to do,” Lauper told the Sunday Herald Sun.

“There are all these little things you have to check out so you know what the hell is going on in that person’s body and what they are doing so you can actually help them, as opposed to standing there and going ‘well I thought that performance was . . .’

“Who gives a s— about that?”

The following week for the remaining singers will be Aussie Hits night.
