I love this show so, so much. For me, it’s such an enjoyable way to educate myself about a lifestyle I am unfamiliar with in an up-close-and-personal way. I think it’s a shame that Seven felt they had to bow to the negative responses, because these people/characters have touched me in a way I never expected. This, I think, is one the huge positives a ‘controversial’ show like this can have. How can informally teaching people about universal love, friendship, connections, acceptance and tolerance, ever be a bad thing?

I can’t wait for Season 6, and I hope that AliceP spins off wildly, widely, and successfully!

Actually the controversy pushed ratings up, at least in the short term, as they usually do for shows like this (ie Californication). Seven shows two seasons, and yes it moved to a later slot as figures began to slip.

Ah, Alice. We always knew it would be you, with your witty turn of phrase and charisma…

Channel Seven treated the show like it was covered in boils. After the first episode of the first season screened, conservative religious groups put pressure on the network to withdraw the show from its schedule and threatened to boycott any companies whose products were advertised during it. As result, the show lost one of its main sponsors and was slowly relegated to a midnight slot, never to be seen again on FTA.

I just started buying the box sets off Amazon in order to get my fix.

Bring on season six!

I love this show too…but I don’t have that channel!! Why can’t channel 7 bring it back?!

I love this show, and love the character of Alice. Like “Friends”, I once pondered over which character could survive a spin-off series if it was ever in the works. (I loved the resulting “Joey” too – although thousands either didn’t, or weren’t brave enough to admit they did!) To me, Alice was the obvious choice.

I’m glad to hear that there will be life after L. I’m currently re-living the show from the the start. You have to love 4-seasoned boxed DVD sets!

(I’ve just realised that I say “love” an awful lot.)
