Foxtel appoints Olympic team leader

Foxtel moves an exec from Entertainment to head up its coverage for London, Vancouver and the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Foxtel’s Head of Entertainment, Graham Burrells has been appointed Creative Director of the broadcaster’s Olympic and Commonwealth Games Project. Foxtel is a partner in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games from Vancouver, the 2010 Commonwealth Games from Delhi, and the 2012 Summer Olympic Games from London.

Burrells will have responsibility for the look and feel of the coverage and for the supervision and production of news magazine programs, colour specials and event programming.

Foxtel’s Brian Walsh said, “Now that this year’s biggest sports event has concluded, the baton has been passed to Foxtel. It is a significant milestone for our company that Foxtel is entrusted with delivering the Olympic and Commonwealth Games to Australian audiences and presenting it to them with breathtaking coverage on multiple channels.”

FOXTEL today announced the appointment of Graham Burrells as Creative Director of FOXTEL’s Olympic and Commonwealth Games Project.

Currently FOXTEL’s Head of Entertainment, Burrells starts in his new post next month where he will spearhead the team designing the presentation and assembling the support programming for FOXTEL’s coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games from Vancouver, Canada; the 2010 Commonwealth Games from Delhi, India; and the 2012 Summer Olympic Games from London.

He will have responsibility for the look and feel of the coverage and for the supervision and production of news magazine programs, colour specials and event programming.

FOXTEL Executive Director of Television and Marketing Brian Walsh said: “Now that this year’s biggest sports event has concluded, the baton has been passed to FOXTEL. As Burrells moves to Olympic unit under FOXTEL’s Director of Sport, Peter Campbell, production for the FOXTEL Owned and Operated Channels group will be re-structured under the supervision of Executive in Charge of Production, Sally Goodman.
