Foxtel, you’ve got Jodhi mail

Finally, walkout host Jodhi Meares quits Australia's Next Top Model.

Jodhi Meares has finally quit her role as the host of Australia’s Next Top Model, following a debacle in which she failed to front for the show’s all-important live finale.

Her exit comes despite the insistence of Foxtel executives who said her role was safe.

In July, Brian Walsh said, “I rang Jodhi on Friday and reiterated the fact she has our full support and apologised for the media circus it’s become.

“Why would we change a winning formula? Australia’s Next Top Model is a fabulous ensemble of personalities of which Jodhi is a key part. They each make a valuable contribution.”

According to news.com.au Meares is understood to have made the decision to leave the program last week.

Foxtel said it was too early to confirm a replacement host. Charlotte Dawson, who stepped in to host at the eleventh hour, has been widely tipped for the job.

Yesterday Walsh said, “I understand and accept her decision to leave Australia’s Next Top Model but I am pleased to say that we have agreed to explore other television projects in the future.”

Press Release (amended):
FOXTEL announced today that AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL host Jodhi Meares has decided not to return to the smash hit FOX8 series.

FOXTEL Executive Director of Television and Marketing, Brian Walsh, met with Jodhi in Sydney last week to discuss her role in the program and has accepted her decision to leave.

“Jodhi has made an invaluable contribution to AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL and to FOXTEL. In the two seasons she hosted the program, it has become the most-watched entertainment series on Australian subscription television,” Mr Walsh said.

“Jodhi brought an earthiness and honesty to the role of host, which endeared her to contestants and viewers alike. Her down-to-earth demeanour was an asset which helped take the show to great success and I would like to publicly express to Jodhi our gratitude.

  1. I’m glad she’s out because she dose not give good and bad criticism. I believe this show should accept plus size as well and up the age to 18 and above.

They should also should change the look of the show and have a better judges that able to teach females about there body and personality.

I believe the judges should have the final say at the finale instead of voting by poll.

  2. It may have been a winning formula, but once she bailed from the live finale, she could no longer be taken seriously when judging. Particularly when the contestants are put through very confronting challenges (public speaking, confronting phobias etc) and expected to step up.

Also, she’s hardly a ‘top model’, even locally!

  3. I think Charlotte will be great as host – she can be a bit catty at times but she is certainly more charismatic and quick witted that Jodhi (Seriously, who spells their name like that???)
